Workshop: Taking Out the Dye - Colleen Pelfrey

  • August 22, 2024
  • 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • DVQ Studio

Registration

This workshop is a little different (no sewing machine required) and there isn't a project you need to finish. Colleen shows you quilts she's made with DeColourant in the design process. She teaches a variety of techniques for using DeColourant and demonstrates how to use the many tools she's acquired. Colleen provides all the DeColourant you need for the workshop and sends you home with a small container.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given for cancellations 30 days prior to the workshop, or if your place can be filled from the waiting list. If it is less than 30 days before the workshop and your place cannot be filled, you must find your own replacement or forfeit the registration fee.

Supply List:

  • Bring different fabrics (100% cotton) to play with. You can precut squares or cut in class, but bring extra. Scraps work fine. My experience is that dark colors work better than lighter, and fabrics that read like solids work better than those with big patterns. I've used a lot of Maywood double dye black fabric, most batiks work well and most Stonehenge works well. Some fabrics may leave an ugly color. You just don't know until you try. Bring options.
  • Rotary cutting tools (mat, cutter, ruler), scissors
  • Optional: Stencils, designs or pictures you like on printed paper, leaves, or anything you think might make a cool design. If there is something you like..for instance giraffes....Look up giraffe silhouettes and print them on paper.
  • Optional: Sewing machine
  • I will provide DeColourant for the class and bring different tools I've found interesting.
