Christine Barnes - Color: A Step by Step Tutorial
It’s all about the COLOR!  We quilters use color in each of our quilts,

but how can we use color and its many characteristics to make our

quilts shine?

Come join Christine Barnes on Wednesday, November 15 when

she speaks on Color: a Step by Step Tutorial.  Her PowerPoint

presentation explains how she “hunts and gathers” fabrics,

then “auditions and edits” them for a successful quilt.  A trunk

show following the presentation includes both quilts and wearables.

Christine began sewing at an early age and remembers making a doll quilt, filling it with cotton balls after she asked her grandmother what was inside of a quilt and she responded “cotton.”   She progressed in her love of fabric and color, earning degrees in costume design and journalism.  She worked for Sunset Publishing writing books on decorating, soft furnishings and remodeling.  In between her books, she pursued her passion: color and quilts.

She has written four books for quilters, in addition to her Sunset books.  Her first was Color, The Quilters Guide and more recently The Quilters’ Color Club.  In addition, her work has appeared in Threads, American Quilter, American Patchwork & Quilting, McCall’s and Modern Patchwork.

Christine’s work can be found at her website: www.christinebarnes.com or at http://artisticalchemyblog.wordpress.com/, a blog she shares with three other fiber artists who join together for retreats and workshops.
